Deadlock is Valve’s latest game – but it’s a twist of sorts. It’s based on MOBA’s operating model, but it works Submitted As a team-based shooter like Overwatch. It’s titled ‘Third-Person Dota’, which is a very apt description. Recently, a lot of information emerged from within the project, such as the complete list of characters (heroes) in the game and some data on the game’s operating system.

It’s there now

In recent hours, clips revealing snippets of gameplay have started appearing on social media platforms. In the most popular clip, we can see nearly a minute of the player flying around the map on ziplines, shooting at inanimate objects and flicking through the game’s character list. Most of the clips have been removed by Valve, but at the time of publishing, The main video is still available for everyone to see.

Admittedly, the video doesn’t tell us much, but Insider Gaming recently got a lengthy breakdown of some of the game’s most important aspects.

We learn that this 6 vs. 6 shooter features an array of characters of different ‘races and factions’ such as robots, humans and magicians. It also has some solid MOBA mechanics like lanes, economy, and characters from healers to tanks. Deadlock has been in development for a long time and has been transferred from pillar to post in terms of project identity, but it seems to be shaping up well.

There are no firm predictions for Deadlock’s release date, but it’s currently in alpha testing – so that means a 2025 or 2026 launch window, depending on how these tests go.
