A major Redfall update was in development prior to the studio’s shutdown

Before shutting down on May 7, Arcane Austin was working on a major update for Redfall, which was planned to arrive this month.

According to a new report from IGN, the studio is working on an update for May that removes the game’s always-online requirement, among other updates. This feature was promised by Arcane Austin in March 2023 but has yet to be delivered. Now that’s not in the cards, players will only have access to Redfall until Microsoft and Bethesda decide when to shut down the game’s servers.

Along with the update for May, Redfall is set to get an update around Halloween that will see two new characters in the game. That update, which was supposed to be part of the game’s Hero Pass, was canceled along with support for the game moving forward.

Those who purchased Hero Pass can get a refund for content that is no longer released.

Insider Gaming has reached out to both Microsoft and Bethesda for comment. As of publication, all requests have been ignored.
