Arrowhead Game Studios wants to be the next from Software

With the success of Helldivers 2, Arrowhead Games Studios has some big new aspirations. In a new interview with GamesIndustry.biz’s former CEO and now chief creative officer, Johan Pilestedt says that the studio wants to become the next major studio like Blizzard of FromSoftware.

“We pride ourselves on being an independent studio,” he told the outlet about making the games they want. “We have to see what the future holds, but there is nothing in the plans about who we want to get through.

“I want to see how high we can fly. By bringing Shams on board, we have the potential to become the next future from software or Blizzard.

It’s not clear what that will look like, as it won’t happen overnight. Even with Helldivers 2’s rapid growth, new CEO Shams Zorjani says he knows there’s work to be done, but he doesn’t want the company to lose sight of why they do what they do.

“We see growth, but we see growth as a means to an end, not an end,” Zorjani said. “We have no plans to go public. None of those scandals. Just measured growth that allows us to make a great game and be a great place to work.

“We don’t run a business for monetary gain,” Pilestedt said. “Humility and the desire to make great games is the only reason we exist.”
