Atari acquired the Intellivision brand and games

in A new post Today on Twitter/X, Atari announced the official acquisition of the Intellivision “brand and game library.”

Atari CEO Wade Rosen called the acquisition “a rare opportunity to unite former competitors.” Rosen also said it could “bring fans of the golden age of gaming together.” Intellivision will rebrand, but it will still continue to distribute the Amico console.

in a A broad press release, explained the purchase of Atari. Atari plans to “expand digital and physical distribution of legacy Intellivision games” and “create new games.”

Fans will likely recognize Intellivision for its classic arcade titles like the Burgertime home port. Notably, Atari only purchased “certain games” and did not identify the titles involved.

Atari will reveal more details soon, as the purchase includes the rights to more than 200 titles. It is already selling merchandise including Intellivision T-shirts.

In today’s press release, Atari confirmed that it will “explore brand and licensing opportunities.”

Intellivision Entertainment CEO Phil Adam expressed confidence in the Atari brand. Adam also said that Intellivision looks forward to an “expanded collaboration” including “a wide range of new Atari and Intellivision titles.”

Late last April, Atari also decided to revive Infograms as a publishing label. The move was aimed at acquiring IP and publishing games outside of Atari’s core portfolio of games. Accordingly, Infograms has also acquired fully reliable delivery services from tinyBuild.
