Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 will add modding on September 2024

in A new post On Twitter/X, the Baldur’s Gate 3 team announced that the expected Patch 7 update will arrive in September 2024, adding official modding tools.

The closed alpha starts today and the closed beta is coming in July, the post adds. The beta will be limited to around 1,000 players. Larian previously announced in April that Patch 7 would introduce the first official modding tools.

During the community update, development explained that players will be able to “change visuals, animations, sounds, stats, and more.”

Update in Community 27 by steam, the developers explained more details. Reiterated development plans for fixes, crossplay, and an in-game photo mode. However, they also teased some “anniversary extravaganza.”

For patch 7, the devs have confirmed that PC players will be the first to use and install mods. After that, they will be available for “Mac players as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles”. Today’s post doesn’t confirm exact release dates.

However, fans playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on console will be able to browse through existing mods without changing their own mods. “Official modding tools will not be available for those playing on console,” the devs confirmed.

Today’s post also notes that the toolkit will include “a subset of our internal development tools.” It allows players to edit mods, upload to mod.io servers, get access to supported asset types and more.
