As updated by Beat Saber Frequently asked questions sectionThe devs are officially ending support for Meta Quest 1 on November 2nd, 2024.

Although the game is still playable, the devs will “stop releasing updates and provide customer support for Quest 1 devices.”

The FAQ adds that multiplayer functions will also stop, and leaderboards may also “be phased out in the future”.

in A new post On Twitter, the devs clarified why they are pulling away from the Meta Quest 1 device. They explain that they want to “focus our development efforts on our next projects at Beat Saber”.

In the same thread, the devs also mentioned that the base game and any purchased DLC are tied to player accounts. While it is “portable on MetaQuest & Rift platform”, some users are already experiencing technical issues.

The post also reminds players that the Beat Saber supports cross-buy between other Meta headsets. The latest device, the Meta Quest 3, launched last year for $499.99. So, investing in anything new has a steep price tag.

Beat Saber originally launched in 2019, so there are still plenty of fans using the Meta Quest 1 device. The game itself is a staple of the rhythm genre, often praised for its ease of use.

However, while the developers are moving away from the original Meta Quest, they don’t plan on moving away from Beat Saber at least.
