BSG attempts to provide ‘closure’ for Tarkov’s drama

May 2, 2024 by No Comments

It’s been a tough week to escape Tarkov fans. After The Unheard Edition was revealed, much of the game’s community rebelled, boycotting the extraction shooter and rebelling against the controversial game’s developer, Battlestate Games. There were a few more hiccups as BSG tried to straighten out and appease gamers, and now, an ‘end’ has been posted meant to appease the community.

‘Feel free to give your opinion’

That’s what Tarkov fans have been doing for the past few days, but most of it has been inherently negative and negative.

in A recent post on RedditNikita Buyanov, studio head at Battlestate Games, breaks down the state of play in The Unheard Edition, Edge of Darkness and what each player is getting to ‘fix’ this dramatic situation.

Here’s the verbiage from that post:

For Edge of Darkness Edition owners:

  • Access to cooperative PvE mode with continuous progress (access will be given in waves, we plan to launch it tomorrow);
  • faster insurance returns;
  • Increased individual merchant purchase limits by 20%;
  • increased initial PMC karma (after it is implemented);
  • access to special stimulus craft;
  • Increased Charisma skill level;
  • “Nostalgia” quest line;
  • special PMC dogtag;
  • A special armband;
  • A special item with call-in mechanics – a “legacy” device:
    • Ability to call a friendly BTR, once called, the item goes into cooldown.
  • Exclusive PMC top and bottom wear;
  • Ability to replace 2 daily tasks per day for free;
  • Ability to change alias icon and color.

For standard owners, get ready for the Escape and Left Behind editions:

  • increased stash size by two lines;
  • Ability to purchase PvE mode access separately.

For owners of The Unheard Edition:

  • Unique radio-electronic item “Mark of the Unheard” – only active in PvE mode;
  • Special Item “Distress Signal Device” – Available in PvP and PvE modes. Item must be recharged in Hideout using high-end items;
  • $50 coupon for Escape from Tarkov purchases (editions, expansions) for those who upgraded from Edge of Darkness to The Unheard Edition at the old price;
  • Access to Escape from Tarkov: Arena for full-price purchases of Edition;
  • Exclusive PMC Outerwear – Cultist Jacket;
  • Special PMC dog tag;
  • Ability to change alias icon and color.

For owners of all editions other than The Unheard Edition:

  • Ability to obtain “Mark of the Unheard” and “Distress Signal Device” items through in-game quests;
  • Ability to obtain expanded PMC pockets through game quests.

For owners of all editions other than Edge of Darkness:

  • the ability to obtain a “legacy” device through an in-game quest;
  • Ability to replace 1 daily job per day for free.

It’s a step in the right direction, but has the damage been done? Some of the game’s top streamers have since moved on to competitive titles like Gray Zone Warfare, and others have stopped playing Tarkov in public altogether. The Unheard Edition was a punch to those who bought Edge of Darkness, and in many ways, the indemnity missed the mark – but what else could Battlestate Games have done to alleviate the situation?
