In a new report By ForbesPaul Tassey supports the old one Rumor on RedditBungie says Destiny 3 may be in development under the codename “Payback”.

Tassi has not fully confirmed this rumour. Instead, they agree that the Reddit post correctly evaluates the “Prism” system, which allows players to “mix and match abilities from different subcategories.”

Bungie officially made some major reveals yesterday, including a new gameplay trailer for Destiny 2: The Final Shape. A particular highlight from its showcase is the Prismatic subclass that mixes capabilities.

Consequently, Tassi concludes that “so may the second half of the commentary.”

Technically, anyone can revisit a Reddit comment with hindsight. But Tassie is the most reliable source, and they added, “I’ll dig around to see if I can find anything about it.” Later in their report, they also stated that Destiny 3 “won’t arrive until the next console generation.”

There’s also the same Reddit account that broke down the Prismatic mechanics A new post From yesterday. “Payback represents Bungie paying back against themselves by creating something they hope everyone will like,” they added. Therefore, Bungie’s codename for Destiny 3 may not represent the actual game’s content.

Destiny 2 has tabletop levels of RPG attitude with the freedom of its prismatic subclass. And so far, the fanbase is happy. This opens up new possibilities for creating your own playstyle.

It may be more complicated for newbies. But games like Baldur’s Gate 3 invited a wider audience to welcome complex character structures. The Prismatic subclass also represents true north for Destiny 3, which may need some really fresh changes to appeal to a new generation of gamers.

Bungie has not confirmed the above rumors or that Destiny 3 is in active development.
