For those lucky players who have access to Fallout 76’s PTS (Public Test Server), there’s a special treat available right now – Skyline Valley. This is the first major map expansion added to the popular post-apocalyptic MMORPG since its release in 2018, and fans Excitedly. It’s a substantial update that adds an entirely new biome to the Appalachian map seen in Fallout 76, and it introduces several POIs, a new weather element, and plenty of new quests.

What is Skyline Valley in Fallout 76?

The Skyline Valley is roughly based on the Shenandoah Valley. In Fallout 76, Skyline Valley is a unique area between the Ash Heap and the Cranberry Bog, so it’s on the flat bottom of the map when you see it dead. Importantly, the skyline represents the valley first time Map expansion in Fallout 76 history. We’ve had off-map ‘expeditions’ before, but this is the first time Bethesda Game Studios has expanded the base map.

Skyline Valley is the game’s nineteenth major update and is slated for release in June 2024. It’s going to be quite a game-changing update, bringing countless combat-themed changes, but it’s also a serious hit to Fallout 76’s weather system. There is a world event in the valley that brings tornadoes into play.

Three new creature archetypes also appear with the Skyline Valley update:

  • lost
  • Thrashers
  • The rainbows

In total, the Skyline Valley region introduces 28 new points of interest for players to discover and explore. The map has remained relatively unchanged (except for a few new locations) for nearly six years, which is big news. If you’re on Steam, you can now access the PTS to check out the new Skyline Valley area.
