The Fallout TV show premieres today (6 PM PT), and with several outlets publishing full reviews of the entire first season, early impressions are pouring in. There are eight episodes to digest, each featuring the most authentic live-action representations of the popular post-apocalyptic franchise ever seen. It’s shaping up to be one of the best video game adaptations ever produced, and there are already monumental expectations for a second season.

Apocalypse is always great

At the time of writing, Fallout Has a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. By comparison, The Last of Us – an Emmy-award-winning series – is rated at 96%. Over time, live-action adaptations of games have gotten better and better, but Fallout takes that concept to a whole new level. It’s undeniably rooted in everything Fallout fans know and love – there’s plenty of dark humor, violence and enough retro-futuristic references to be instantly recognizable on the surface.

By the end of the first episode, several storylines have been launched and there are enough twists and turns to keep viewers fully engaged for an entire hour. It’s the perfect introduction to the Fallout universe, and even newcomers will be left wanting more — which is lucky, because all eight episodes will be available on Prime Video from the moment the series goes live.

The acting is perfect, the cast is sublime, the set pieces and costumes are absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, and the writing is nearly flawless. As a Fallout fan, there is little to find fault with this production. We’ve waited years for it to arrive and now it’s here, it almost feels unreal – the whole world is watching Fallout, which is incredible for fans who have stuck with the series for so long.
