First CoD 2024 Maps Online Leak Reveals Return of Old Maps… Again

The first Call of Duty 2024 (COD 2024) leaks have started appearing online, with one revealing that at least some maps from the Black Ops series will return.

The LeeK It has been revealed that ‘WMD’ from Black Ops 1 and DLC map ‘Grind’ from Black Ops 2 will be returning.

Insider Gaming understands that most of the classic maps from the Black Ops series are currently in development for Treyarch’s next title, but has not been able to pinpoint which ones will return to the core game as DLC or when the next Warzone launches. the map

If current rumors and leaks are to be believed, Call of Duty 2024 marks the second Call of Duty title to use old maps to enhance its multiplayer experience. Modern Warfare 3 uses all the remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009), with only the original maps coming to the game post-launch.

Insider Gaming told its sources that the new strategy of remastering old maps on such a massive scale is a means of reducing the series’ notorious development times. Although maps are built from the ground up, development time can be significantly reduced by knowing the direction of mutliplayers from the team.

An added benefit of remastering multiplayer maps is nostalgia – something the Call of Duty series can easily tap into with its 2-decade run.

The return of old maps for the second year in a row is starting to call the future of the series into question. Is multiplayer now a nostalgia trip? Could we finally get a Call of Duty Mobile-esque game for consoles in the coming years? Or is Call of Duty shipping games with its yearly releases?

Who knows, but Activision Blizzard’s UK regulator approval of Microsoft’s $69 billion deal could mean big changes for the series in the coming years.
