The overall gacha gaming genre varies considerably, with Genshin Impact offering players an open world to explore, while others offer instanced gameplay. You’d be forgiven for not realizing how Genless Zone Zero and its world work. I didn’t do it at first either. So, Zenless Zone Zero open world? Let’s find out!

Does Genless Zone Zero have an open world?

After you progress through a relatively short introduction, the game teaches you a number of mechanics and systems, before you choose a main character to play for an overarching story. Here, in the real world outside of the Hollows, you can explore the Hub Zone. It’s a small neighborhood outside the shop, with a newsstand, a noodle shop, an electronics store, and plenty of NPCs to interact with or ignore.

But whether Genless Zone Zero is an open world or not, no, it isn’t. It’s a small hub area, a single street with a few shops and nothing else.

Is Zenless Zone Zero Battles Open World?

When you’re not busy interacting with characters, drawing lottery tickets, or ordering noodles at the local food stall, you spend your time fighting monsters in the hollow of ZZZ. These battles are in an environment where you surround a few small areas with a few enemies before moving on to the next area. Ultimately, you end up interacting with the storyline, whether it’s fighting a boss or tracking down a lost courier.

The game does not have an open world environment to explore.
