LittleBigPlanet 3 has been taken offline forever

April 20, 2024 by No Comments

In January, the servers for LittleBigPlanet 3 were temporarily taken down while the team at Sumo Digital worked on the technical issues that were causing the game to become unplayable online. Now, as a result of those issues, it has been revealed that Sumo is taking the game’s servers offline permanently. The game is now listed as ‘decommissioned’ on PlayStation’s site, and a statement explains what the game’s status is for the 2014 game.

An important message

On TwitterThe LittleBigPlanet team posted ‘an important message’ about the future of LittleBigPlanet 3:

As the LittleBigPlanet 3 servers for PS4 were temporarily taken offline in January 2024 due to ongoing technical issues, the decision was made to keep the servers offline indefinitely.

All online services, including access to other players’ creations, are unavailable for LittleBigPlanet 3.

User-generated content stored locally on your PS4 will be available. Any new UGC you create will be played on your PS4 but not shared. Offline features such as the campaign are playable.

Thank you for your support.

In the comments below the intense update, the team thanked the community for their ‘continued love and support over the years’.

This now marks the sunset of the last LittleBigPlanet game, as the only other titles released in the franchise since 2014 have been spin-offs that did not share an LBP title. Fans of the franchise, which debuted on the PlayStation 3 in 2008, were dismayed by the news and begged someone, somewhere, to reveal LittleBigPlanet 4.
