New information has surfaced on the Sony-backed studio of former Deviation devs

It has been claimed on social media that Sony has set up a brand new studio within the confines of a PlayStation stocked to the rafters with former Deviation Games employees. Jason Blundell, one of Deviation’s co-founders, is further reported to be involved in the project at a senior level.

The latest revelation follows rumors that first surfaced in December 2023.

In March, Deviation Games shut down without shipping a single game. Backed by a group of former Call of Duty veterans, Deviation Games was reportedly working on a AAA shooter that was shut down amid ongoing industry-wide infighting. That shutdown followed a massive layoff wave that wiped out 90 employees.

‘Top-class new IP’

In a post by former Deviation Games employee Michael Anthony that appeared on LinkedIn (Thanks to VGC), the news is all confirmed:

I’ve heard that several former Deviation Games employees have set up their own studio at Sony, working on new IP.
Signed up I work there are all top class developers and hope you can create a top class new IP with your studio that will give you all the time you need to create a quality product and not have to deal with red tape from previous projects.

Following that comment, Anthony wrote, ‘Go back and do what you do best JB’.

In December 2023, rumors of a new studio began to emerge, with Jason Blundell stating that he was ‘designing an unannounced project’. As it is, the studio has been cooking in the background without announcing anything for months.
