Nickmercs has been banned from Twitch for days after the Dr Disrespect scandal

June 29, 2024 by No Comments

Nick ‘nickmerks’ Kolchef has been banned from Twitch for the first time after using a ‘derogatory slur’ on the platform. The ban comes suddenly and comes just days after the recent controversy surrounding Guy ‘Dr. Disrespect’ Beehm, who admitted to messaging a minor on the platform in 2017, an incident that led to his permanent Twitch ban in 2020.

Kolchef was caught using a transphobic slur on stream, uttering the word ‘tranny’, which was quickly followed by a decisive but temporary ban. He came under fire on social media insisting that ‘next time (he) will use a mental health disorder’.

Under Fire Again

It’s been a whole year since Nickmerks was last in hot water for transphobic comments. Last June, in response to transgender rights protesters, he commented, ‘They should leave the little kids alone.’ This unraveled situation and led to his custom skin being removed from Call of Duty – but unlike the recent Doctor Disrespect situation, many stood in solidarity with Nickmerks. When he returned to streaming after the event, he had a record number of paid subscriptions on Twitch.

Recently, Kolchef appeared on a stream saying, ‘There’s no such thing as trans people,’ before uttering the slur that ultimately led to his first ever Twitch ban.

In the wake of Dr Disrespect’s recent scandal, where he admitted to inappropriately messaging a minor on the platform in 2017, Nickmercs has spoken out against it, insisting that he can no longer support the veteran streamer.

It’s unclear how long the Nickmercs Twitch ban will last.
