Nintendo isn’t going to Gamescom 2024

Nintendo has confirmed that it won’t be making an appearance at Gamescom 2024. After appearing as an exhibitor at the 2023 event, the company confirmed to the German outlet GameSwirtschaft It skips the show this year./

“GameCom is a major event in Nintendo’s event calendar,” a Nintendo spokesperson told the outlet. “However, this year, after careful consideration, we have decided not to participate in Cologne. Instead, players will be able to try out games for the Nintendo Switch as part of other events across Germany.

Last August, Nintendo showed off closed-door tech demos of the Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever the console is called, to various members of the press and game developers. The next console from the company is still in development, but is currently expected to be released in early 2025.

Insider Gaming reached out to Nintendo to try and get more details on why they decided to skip Gamescom 2024. If a response is received, this article will be updated accordingly.

Gamescom will be held in Cologne, Germany from August 21-25 this year.
