in a New official postNintendo has announced that on June 10, 2024, it will end X (Twitter) integration features on the Nintendo Switch.

Users will lose the option to send screenshots and videos from the Switch’s Album to the X. Naturally, it’s Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. players. It also affects how you post on Ultimate.

Nintendo is also removing the friend suggestions feature, which allowed players to send friend requests via social media. Instead, players can “use the Friend Suggestions feature from smart devices, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.”

Today’s post adds, “Posting screenshots and videos to Facebook will be available.” However, it warns users that the Facebook feature “may be disabled at a later date.”

While Nintendo thanked players for using the integration features, it did not offer an explanation for disabling them on the Switch. Fans have speculated that costs and low consumption may be a factor.

While many users have already compiled workarounds for sharing screenshots, others are calling for a new Miiverse. The classic Network for 3DS is definitely set to make a comeback.

This week, Nintendo finally announced that it will reveal a new Switch successor sometime this fiscal year. Nintendo is likely ending social media integration features to prepare something new for the upcoming console.

Nintendo will also host a new Direct in June, featuring games that will launch on Switch in the second half of 2024.
