During today’s Summer Game Fest 2024 showcases, a major update was revealed for Palworld, which will be released on June 27, 2024.

Announced via a trailer, the Sakurajima update in Palworld is set to receive new pals, dedicated Xbox servers, a new faction and boss, a new arena mode, and a brand new island.

Developer Pocket Pair previously teased a multiplayer arena mode coming later this year during the Triple-I Initiative showcase. However, that’s an incredibly brief teaser trailer that only has 15 seconds of gameplay.

Palworld also has new pals this summer. During ID last April’s Xbox Showcase, the devs teased just four of the upcoming Pals.

Soon after launch, Pocket Pair released a comprehensive roadmap for PvP and Raid Bosses. The first attack, starring the “powerful and evil” Paul Bellanoir, besieging the Palpagos Islands was finally dropped last April.

Pocket Pair first released Palworld in January 2024, and the game quickly broke several records. It sold over 1 million copies within 8 hours of its launch. Later, Palworld quickly topped Steam with over 2 million concurrent players, surpassing Counter-Strike 2.

As of April 2024, the game has lost nearly 97% of its players on Steam since launch. However, this unsteady decline alone did not mark a sudden failure.

Now that something more important has been revealed for Paulworld at Summer Game Fest 2024, the viewership numbers will only fuel the new hype.
