Xbox chief Phil Spencer confirmed that more Xbox games will be available on other platforms in the future.

It’s been a wild past few months for Xbox, with rumors of its first-party games coming to other platforms. First, one, then two, and eventually, all of Xbox’s first-party games were rumored to be coming to other platforms. After weeks of rumors ramping up the scope of this change in strategy, Xbox finally addressed the rumors in a business podcast. After confirming that all four games would make their way to other platforms, Phil Spencer said it was “not a change to our basic exclusive strategy”. But after a few months, that strategy backfired.

In a new time IGN’s first interview, Spencer addressed the endless rumors again, but with a completely different answer from the first time. “You’re going to see more of our games on more platforms, and we see that as a benefit to the franchises we build and from the players and the players love to play,” Spencer said.

The answer is a complete 180 from a few months ago, and while the company’s plans are always changing, Xbox’s strategy is still unclear. Apparently, all of these decisions are part of Xbox’s “Project Latitude,” which, according to recent rumors, includes games that will be “considered” for rival platforms. So, basically, Project Latitude doesn’t mean much to anyone until they give the green light on said games, including the players and developers behind the games.

This is where we are with the chaos surrounding the Xbox and the rumors surrounding it. It’s pretty clear that some people on Xbox are also divided and have resorted to feeding (often inaccurate or incomplete) information to journalists and content creators to stir the pot. It’s clear that Xbox has at least one unhappy bunny in the know about these decisions, and Xbox leadership needs to get a firm grip on what to do.

Where it will land for Xbox is anyone’s guess. Personally, I don’t really care. But Sega of other platforms should end up with these first-party straight answers. What games will be available on other platforms? when will they come And how much do they cost?
