In a new leak spotted by Fans on RedditA variety of clips have surfaced featuring prototype footage from previous Assassin’s Creed games.

The clips showcase gameplay from Assassin’s Creed 3, Black Flag, Origins and Syndicate. It also represents game progress titles such as Black Flag and Golden Age and Victory for Syndicate respectively.

The clips are very brief, simple scenes like Connor using a mast to infiltrate a ship or early UI design in Syndicate. But they still have a familiar sense of style.

Surprisingly, most of these ideas are adapted to the final product. But they still offer a glimpse into the creative process for both cinematic animation and gameplay mechanics.

This leak will be especially interesting for long-time fans. After all, these previous games laid much of the groundwork for future titles in the series.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is a recent title, so its prototype footage is less revealing. But its location sync and confidence is still a highlight from the leaked clips. The speed of the camera panning and the perspective of the backgrounds seem to be already locked.

The game launched in 2017 to good critical reviews. Despite the mixed response from fans, many praised Abubakar Salim’s performance for Bayek. Salim recently founded their own studio and Insider Gaming had the opportunity to interview them about their debut game.

Driving Jacob Fry’s carriage in a completely imperfect environment is also a lot of fun. But the UI is relatively familiar, if a little less refined.
