Stellar Blade will be patched to remove the ‘Hard R’ racist art

April 24, 2024 by No Comments

A location on Stellar Blade was recently discovered to be home to deliberately racist graffiti. In a place that has a vendor, the word ‘Hard’ is spray-painted on a nearby wall, and immediately alongside that piece of graffiti is a neon sign announcing ‘R Shop’, resulting in a tongue-in-cheek reference to the slur – ‘Hard R’.

Totally inappropriate

A PlayStation representative stated that the placement of the graffiti was unintentional and will be removed during the first day of the drop on Friday:

Placing two graphics next to each other on Stellar Blade resulted in an unintentionally offensive phrase. Shift Up has no intention of creating offensive artwork and replaces graffiti for the Day 1 patch.

If it was included by accident, it is a very poignant coincidence. Some gamers have suggested that the PlayStation is ‘too slick’ and that ‘no one outside the United States’ even knows what the term refers to – but that’s beside the point. Users are now sharing images of the glitch online, but it was taken from review and early access copies and will be out of the game when it fully launches on April 26.
