Take-Two CEO talks about not announcing GTA 6 on PC

When Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 was revealed on December, players immediately noticed that the game was only announced for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The lack of a PC release at launch disappointed many who waited 12 years for the game’s initial launch on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 for GTA 6’s release. Rockstar owner Take-Two Interactive is now addressing the decision not to announce GTA 6 for PC.

During a discussion at TD Coven meeting On May 30, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik was asked about the lack of a PC announcement for the game (at the six-minute mark) and whether it was a solid decision.

“Well, lack of announcement is not something that can be set in stone as close as I can tell, because the only thing that happens after lack of announcement is announcement, I suppose, or lack of announcement , I guess that could happen as well. I don’t see any stone unturned,” he told those on a conference call.

He continued: “But Rockstar has an approach to platforms that we’ve seen before and they’ll be announcing more in due course. I believe the right strategy for our business is to address where the consumer is and what this company has done historically is to address consumers wherever they are, on whatever platform makes sense over time.

There was no follow-up on the topic as the conference call moved on with other business questions related to Zelnik. His comments definitely opened the door to hope that GTA 6 will be released on PC. However, how close to the initial release remains to be seen. GTA 5 didn’t come to PC until nearly two years after its initial release. The studio’s most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2, wasn’t released on PC until a year after its console release.

GTA 6 is slated to release in Fall 2025.
