As the world prepares to welcome Liam Hemsworth into the role of Geralt of Rivia, showrunners have revealed that The Witcher has been renewed for a fifth – and possibly final – season. The Witcher debuted in December 2019 to relatively positive reception, with many praising Henry Cavill’s performance as The White Wolf, but for the upcoming season four release, the English actor was replaced by an Australian, Liam Hemsworth.

The End Times

All good things come to an end and while The Witcher has enjoyed a solid run, it will be sunsetting with season five. That’s not a bad thing as television shows go, but it left fans wondering how it would end. Plenty of storylines have been set up by the end of the third season, but the biggest question in the community is how the writers will address Hemsworth’s replacement for Cavill.

They can just focus on it and pretend nothing happened or write something down to explain the sudden difference. I’m willing to bet Jaskier has some kind of quip about Geralt ‘looking different’. They already have the ‘winds howling’ joke, so it’s not out of the realms of possibility.

It was recently revealed that several top actors are joining The Witcher’s fourth season, including James Purefoy and Sharlto Copley.
