in A new post Today on Twitter/X, Ubisoft confirmed that Toronto is joining development on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Joining Ubisoft Montreal devs will bring the studio’s “creativity, expertise and updated technology,” the team said.

This marks a major step forward for game development. Ubisoft confirmed the game years ago and development has been facing a series of setbacks. In 2022, the game was announced to move from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai to Montreal.

Last April, Insider Gaming reported exclusive details about the anticipated remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. That includes footage sent to Insider Gaming that suggests a release is far off.

However, now that Ubisoft is joining Toronto development, it’s unclear whether additional support could speed up the potential release window.

Fans are also worried about Ubisoft Toronto pulling out of the Splinter Cell remake. However, the team recently seemed willing to share news about Splinter Cell.

Combined with Ubisoft Toronto’s decision to move towards Prince of Persia, this suggests that a major Splinter Cell remake is on the way. However, Ubisoft Toronto has yet to officially confirm any details about the Splinter Cell remake.

Recently, Prince of Persia fans were able to try out the Early Access version of The Rogue Prince of Persia when it launched on May 27.
