What’s the next Resident Evil remake? – Answered

Can you believe that Resident Evil Village is launching in 2021? In 2023, we received the Resident Evil 4 remake, which many believed Capcom intended to remake or remaster the entire franchise. It seems more likely now, but what’s the next Resident Evil remake on the slate?

What’s the next Resident Evil remake?

According to reports, it won’t be a Resident Evil 1 remake or a Resident Evil 5 remake down the road, but rather a Resident Evil 0 remake and a Resident Evil Code Veronica remake currently in development. Following the enormous success of Resident Evil 4, everyone in the community was certain that Capcom would remake the fifth entry and then return to the first game.

Resident Evil 1 got the remake/remaster treatment in the past, but it kept the tank controls, which felt archaic and clunky. If Capcom can deliver a faithful remake in the same style as recent titles, they’ll have a gold mine.

The same goes for 0 and Code Veronica, who have become fan favorites.

Either way, more Resident Evil is never a bad thing!

What’s the next main Resident Evil game?

Resident Evil 9 is the next mainline entry in the long-running Resident Evil franchise following a more action-oriented approach in Village. We’ve heard rumors that it will take place on an island location with a more open-world approach, but there’s no official release date or window yet.

Unfortunately, the only information we have about Resident Evil 9 is that it has been pushed back to 2025 or 2026. Previously, an announcement for the ninth mainline entry was thought to come this summer, but that seems unlikely. It’s still a possibility, but we’ll just have to wait and see!

Insider Gaming remains staunch fans of the long-running survival horror franchise, and we’ll have more on RE9 in the coming days. In the meantime, it would mean the world to us if you subscribed to the official Insider Gaming newsletter!
