Fallout is running rampant at the moment, but not for good reasons. In recent weeks, we’ve seen the Fallout TV show grow in popularity and player counts across the entire catalog of games skyrocket across all platforms. On the other hand, we also saw the release of the Fallout 4 next-gen update leaving fans around the world in a state of disappointment and misery.

Now, it’s claimed that Xbox is well aware of the wait for the next Fallout game and is keen to explore opportunities to make it come sooner rather than later.

2030s, minimum

Currently, the next Fallout game – potentially just ‘Fallout 5’ – may not arrive until the 2030s. Bethesda Game Studios completed development on Starfield and then created and released The Elder Scrolls 6. It was recently revealed that there was a playable build of The Elder Scrolls 6, but this years from complete.

With that in mind, and considering the recent explosion in popularity of the Fallout franchise, it’s no surprise that Xbox wants to speed up the development of Fallout 5.

In recent times An episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden stated that the company is ‘aware’ of the demand for the Fallout label, and everyone knows how successful the next title in the series will be. At this point, one of the only ways the company can take to speed up the development of Fallout 5 is to remove it entirely from Bethesda Game Studios. It will be the first main Fallout game No 2010 Fallout was developed by Bethesda out of New Vegas.

Hype inevitably dies, but now there’s a stellar television series in the mix and each new season brings players back – should Xbox take advantage of that trending timeline?
